Prepare Your Assisted Migration Reference Course for Teaching
Assisted Migration
- If you have not already done so, request a migration option through the OWL Migration Request App. You MUST request a migration option in order for your course content to be migrated. Return to this checklist once you have received confirmation that your reference course is available.
- Sign up for a personal sandbox and complete the Self-Guided Instructor Training
- eLearning LTI tools must be re-added to courses. Find more information on LTI tools here.
- Review the crosswalk guide.
- Once your reference course is ready, you must copy the course content to the official course, where your students will be enrolled. Learn how to do that on OWL Brightspace Help!
Assisted Migration Instructors Checklist
After the assisted migration process is completed, instructors will be enrolled to their respective requested reference courses. Once you are notified that the reference course you requested assisted migration for is ready, sign in to westernu.brightspace.com and go through the suggested checklist below for course cleanup.
When your official course where students will be enrolled is ready, you can import the cleaned-up course components using the Import/Export/Copy Components tools found in the Manage Course > Course Admin tool.
**Please Note: if any of your course tools use Groups/Sections for release conditions, these can only be configured once you receive your official course as the official course will contain the Roster with enrolled students.
**For content that could not be migrated from OWL Sakai, instructors should consider alternative methods using OWL Brightspace tools to deliver this content. Instructors can also refer to How Tos & FAQs page for more information and suggestions.
