Claim Your Project Site
Please claim your project sites. Doing so gives us the important information we need to help you transition to alternative solutions or migrate to OWL Brightspace.
Claiming a project site takes approximately two minutes.
To claim your Sakai Project Site(s):
- Login to OWL Sakai to access the Transition app.
- Click Membership.
- Click the Transition tab.
- For each project site listed, select a “Type” that best matches your site. While your project site could serve multiple purposes, the type selected should match the primary use of the project site. Your options include:
- Undecided – The default selection. This selection can be changed at any time before the submission deadline.
- Research – Project Sites used primarily to host research materials and data.
- Central HR Training – HR owned and maintained training courses.
- Student Training – Project Sites used primarily to host and facilitate training for Western or Affiliate students.
- Departmental Employee Training – Project Sites used primarily to host and facilitate training for Western or Affiliate employees.
- Supplementary Course Materials – Project Sites used primarily for teaching and learning, such as hosting learning modules or developing course materials.
- External Training – Project Sites used primarily to host training for users external to Western.
- External Other – Project Sites used primarily for users external to Western.
- Non-Instructional, Other – Project Sites used for non-instructional purposes.
- Other – Project Sites that do not fit any of the Types above.
- Select a corresponding “Action” to identify what you want to do with your project site. Your options will vary based on the Type of project site. Your options include:
- Undecided - The default selection. This selection can be changed at any time before the submission deadline.
- Transition to Alternate Solution – For Project Sites that are not eligible to migrate to OWL Brightspace, WTS has several supported tools for site maintainers to transition their project sites to.
- Retain in Sakai until April 30th, 2026 – For Project Sites that need to continue to run in OWL Sakai, you can retain your site until April 30th, 2026. After April 30th, you and all users will lose access and not be able to access your project site or its data. You are responsible for collecting and moving any project site materials off Sakai before April 30th, 2026.
- I will Delete – You will delete your project site before April 30th, 2026. For instructions on how to delete your project site, visit OWL Help.
- Delete Anytime – WTS will delete your project site at any time before April 30th, 2026.
- Request Migration to OWL Brightspace – Eligible Types of project sites can select this option to request migration. Your request will be forwarded to a Jira Service Desk ticket within a week of submitting your selection in the Transition app. You will be asked to submit additional information in this ticket for your request to be assessed.
- Click Continue at the bottom of the page.
- Confirm your selections and click Save
- Or click Do Not Save to cancel and change your selections.
Please note: Project sites can only be claimed once by one Maintainer, who must be a current Western or Affiliate employee.
